How to use the app icon generator
- Add your icon artwork — ideally a square 1024×1024 PNG with no rounded corners. iOS and Android apply their own corner masks.
- Pick a background color. Apple rejects icons with transparency, so transparent areas are filled with this color. It's also used as the Android adaptive icon background layer.
- Check the preview on the iOS rounded square, Android circle and squircle shapes. Add padding if parts of your logo get cut off.
- Download the ZIP and drop the folders into Xcode and Android Studio.

Tips for a great app icon
- Keep it simple. Icons are often seen at 40–60 pixels. One bold shape reads better than detailed artwork.
- Don't add your own rounded corners or shadows. The system adds them, and doubled corners look wrong.
- Avoid small text. Your app name already appears under the icon.
- Test on light and dark wallpapers to make sure the edges stay visible.
Frequently asked questions
What size should my source image be?
Use a square PNG of at least 1024×1024 pixels. That is the size Apple requires for the App Store icon, and every smaller size is generated from it. Smaller images work, but large icons may look blurry.
Why does Apple reject icons with transparency?
App Store icons must be fully opaque. If your image has transparent areas, keep "Fill transparent areas" switched on and pick a background color — the generator will flatten the icon for iOS.
Do I still need all the iOS sizes?
Since Xcode 14 you can supply a single 1024×1024 icon and let Xcode create the rest. The ZIP includes the full classic size set too, which you need if you support older Xcode versions or want pixel-perfect control at small sizes.
What is an Android adaptive icon?
Since Android 8.0, launcher icons are made of a foreground and a background layer that the device masks into a circle, squircle or other shape. The ZIP includes the foreground layers, a background color resource and the XML files Android Studio expects.
Where do I put the files?
For iOS, drag the AppIcon.appiconset folder into Assets.xcassets in Xcode (replace the existing one). For Android, copy the contents of the android folder into app/src/main/res in your project.
